Message: Role of government

History teaches us that governments have had various roles and have treated its subjects/citizens quite differently.

It is undeniable no matter how much of a conspiracy theorist you may be that we acknowledge the North American countries have been and continue to be for the most part democratically ruled. This is not to say that such methods are most assuredly to continue indefinitely, but rather a postulation on my part which is likely to be agreeable to all readers.

In the last century we have seen an increase in the role played by government to which some we should be very grateful. Regardless of the level you believe the government should play in our modern civilization, in which most people are free to pursue their interests, we are generally safe from violence, and likely to have the opportunity for the bare necessities of life, I think most if not all would agree there inevitably becomes a point that each indvidual would see the government as being too intrusive or unsustainable.

Arguably the debt levels in the US may have reached that point. Indeed what was considered necessities ... teachers, hospital staff, paved roads, sewage and water systems etc and the equipment and supplies in support of such institutions appear to be in a state of systematic reduction.

The introduction of public health care will add to the financial burden of our society however it appears to be the lack of consensus regarding priorities causing the greatest rift in both individual and party lines.

This lack of quality prioritization is today's government greates ill and although it should be directed by the citizens of a democratic state, increasingly decisions such as the Iraqi war financial and auto bail-outs, etc are being driven by the interests of special lobby groups, be them the auto industry, oil, financial or the military industrial complex.

If you sense that you and the majority are no longer being heard then you can be assured that no government will ever admit to making errors, all government will blame their predecessors for mistakes and that even a governments truly acting in the interest of the majority of its citizens will have difficulty taking back what has already been given.

IMO the balance has shifted irrevocably and as members of the audience the only hope for individual prosperity comes through personal abilities, initiative, willingness to be truthful to oneself and personal accountability for your prosperity.

GLTA who don't subscribe to those attributes.
