Flash, I live in a city kinda .... No stop lights to your nearest Candian Tire and Walmart ...but .... my property includes heavy bush from which I have been building a large supply of firewood (sufficient for at least nother 10 years) and the woodstoves are capable of keeping the house at 20 deg even at -35. Of course we will keep the house much cooler to conserve. I have gas powered chainsaws and splitter but also manual splitters and even 2 man lumberjack saws.

I am on well water, but keep a supply of containers that I could quickly fill if needed ... a generator is no guarantee (gas is required and I stockpile some) to allow some limited access to electricity through a generator ... I have many oil lamps and lanterns etc as well as candles ... the years supply of food will cover a large family for that period so labour is available ... oh yeah ... brother has loads of firearms and is a proficient hunter/fisherman and our dogs love us. Just for safe measure I have several hundred gallons of wine.

IMO - it will not get as bad I have prepared for, but I live by the boy scouts motto. Hope that helps ... as a former corporate executive I sound extreme, but I have seen extreme dishonesty so I have learned to trust myself above all others.
