Newsletter Survey

Since I first started investing in the late 80's I've used a variety of newsletters. I don't try to follow them exactly, I mainly use them for ideas to build my own portfolio, keeping to the theme of diversity, which is why I use several letters at a time, plus my own research and other sources, like this group for instance. I've gotten good leads from some of these letters, but ironically my best returns came from my own research. Nonetheless, time is a major factor in researching investments, and with other obligations taking up a major portion, I need dependable sources as a starting point to maximize the time I have available.

At the moment I'm only using two pay services, IKN Weekly, and Keith Schaefer's Oil & Gas Investments - both pretty good - I would recommend them to anyone who understands the risks involved in junior stock investing.

I also subscribe to a variety of free email services, most of which are leaders for pay services. Examples: Green Chip Review, Energy & Capital, Daily Wealth, Streetwise Reports, Vantage Wire Alert - stuff like that. I get about 20 of these a day and wading through them becomes a major effort, which is why I pose the question:

Which letters do you folks find most useful, and just as important, which ones have NOT worked out for you?

Just to share a personal observation - I've gotten the best results from new or fairly obscure letters, and the worst returns from the well known services (such as Casey) that have wide audiences that tend to pounce first and ask questions later - not my style at all - I like to verify what I'm reading before I step up.
