I keep asking myself, how do you establish a new international gold settlement system, given that the previous one failed? It's not as simple as revaluing gold northwards and pegging your currency, you also need some method to establish the correct ratio between individual currencies, and to do THAT, everyone has to open their books and give a true account of the state of their finances. So, how likely is that?
