Message: Re: CFTC rules would curb speculation in energy markets

This article contains so much patent nonsense it's hard to know where to begin. Who are these people anyway that think they actually know something?

The incentive for ruling in this instance is nothing more than the CFTC protecting their comfortable sinecure. Obama's swinging the big axe and they see him headed their way. Purely cynical on their part since they must know that nothing they can do will have any effect whatsoever other than to drive trade offshore - or do they imagine they can "regulate" supply and demand across the entire planet?

The difference with gold manipulation is there are no big industries affected by manipulators hence no incentive for ruling .

That is definitely true, but it's also a case of be careful what you wish for. Right now oil is priced in dollars, so a high oil price is as much a reflection of the dollar as it is of demand for oil. Wait until big industry has to buy Euros or SDR's or Yuan or whatever to purchase oil, then watch the effect of that.

This administration is doing everything in it's power to permanently cripple the US economy and it's position as a world leader of free markets. You'd almost think they were doing it on purpose, except that would be crediting them with more intelligence than they actually possess.

Seriously, in the bigger picture there's only one trade left to play. Buy all the oil you can, then sell it before the Govt. declares a state of emergency and seizes it on behalf of "the people." That's what $145 bbl. is telling you. The market has spoken!
