We may not make much money, but we sure have a lot of fun!
first, thanks to all for getting this forum established. i've found that adding this place to my list of favorite stock hubs is the easiet way for me to find my way back here.
given the current prices of resource stocks, it feels like 2002 again. i believe there are bargains everywhere right now, but i have only started nibbling because i am still leery of year-end tax selling and the outcome of the us elections. not so much the outcome itself, but whether the current administration tries to prop up the us dollar just through election day, or all the way through january to inauguration day. so we may see even lower prices in the next month.
stocks look very cheap whether you look at majors, mid-tier or junior mining companies, but i wouldn't invest in any company that doesn't have the funds to go into production without using the capital markets, and that lets out a lot of juniors. many exploration and even junior producers are scaling back operations to conserve cash, so there are a lot of companies that will either be acquired or go out of business. of course that creates opportunities for the stronger companies to acquire those assets.
they say the best time to invest is when there is blood in the streets, and i think we're ankle-deep right now. in the long run, i doubt you can go wrong buying at these levels, as long as the companies are well-funded. but we could be knee-deep in another month, so i'm not going to invest all at once.
